Both Kathy and David will come to your house and meet with you for about an hour.
You will have a unique combination of two experts on your site with over 30 years of experience in growing, designing and aesthetically placing and planting California Native Plant Gardens.
During your consultation, they will listen to and comment on your goals for the garden.
Your current landscaping will be evaluated addressing the existing plants, soil conditions, sun exposure, irrigation, deer, gopher, dog and other conditions that will affect proper selection of plants, their installation and ability to thrive.
Suggestions will be voiced and discussed regarding plants that should be removed or pruned, additions to the planting scheme, garden flow, including paths and focal points.
During the consultation photographs will be taken, notes made, and clients are asked to provide garden measurements, if possible.
We begin with your area of highest priority. We are able to address a single, contiguous planting area within the context of this one hour visit and written report. Each garden area requires an individual plant list and planting plan.
Following the meeting, David and Kathy meet offsite to review their notes and photos, and to brainstorm ideas for elements that will make the garden unique, purposeful and beautiful.
Then, several hours are spent in writing a report addressing these issues, and providing a Preliminary Plant List and a Bubble Sketch drawing, with locations and quantities of plants being approximated. The sketch provided is not-to-scale concept and exact plant placements and garden structure will be realized in the subsequent phase of the process.
This report will be emailed to the client within a few weeks.

Upon receipt of the report, the next step would be a Plan Review and Installation Proposal meeting, by email or in person, to go over the proposed plant list and layout. More precise measurements, plant totals and materials estimates would take place at this time. Any additional design work to revise the plant list and to prepare a materials and installation estimate would take place place during this

"I really appreciated that in the new design, they artistically incorporated a few things that I already had, and loved in the garden. They also were able to reuse some rocks, and keep a few established plants I could work into the new plan. I am extremely happy with the results and receive many compliments from friends and neighbors over the beautiful transformation of my yard!"

We use a Three Part Approach to achieve optimal results in converting your garden to a native habitat;
1) Excavation and demolition of dead lawns, undesired foliage, and weed removal.
2) Proper soil preparation to provide planting conditions that will help native plants thrive
3) Expert planting of selected plants, according to their preferred conditions and spacing.
Finally, all areas are mulched and watered and areas left broom clean.
In addition, we design and install custom planters, pathways, seating, creeks and water features, garden art design, and rock walls.
We've Gone Native exclusive: A customized watering and maintenance video is produced on site at the conclusion of the project and sent to the client.
Garden Installation Costs are carefully evaluated based on time and materials involved for a successful planting.
